(WMC) - A warning for crooks, you don't mess with a man's bike. A man on a crime spree in Arizona found that out the hard way when he decided he'd tangle with a biker. And it was all caught on news helicopter video. Now the man in the dramatic fight video is telling his tale.
Brandon Jenkins admits he didn't even realize what was going on at first.
"I really didn't know what was going on until the police officer showed up. I just thought I was being attacked. And then when the police officer showed up it was apparent it was much more serious than I originally thought," Jenkins said
The fight happened as more than 30 police officers pursued a stolen truck through the streets outside of Mesa, Arizona. At one point during the chase, the driver got out of the truck, and shoved and punched Jenkins, trying to get away on his bike.
"I thought maybe I cut him off and maybe rubbed him the wrong way. Then when he ripped me off my motorcycle it became very apparent that he was trying to steal my bike," Jenkins said.
Jenkins successfully fought off the would-be bike jacker. The guy was forced to jump back in the pickup truck police had been chasing him in. He eventually flipped that, was thrown from the truck and arrested.
As far as fighting off his attacker, Jenkins has some advice for others. "If you don't have training to defend yourself just take a step back and if they're trying to steal your car or your motorcycle, if you don't know what you're doing, just take a step back, let them take it. You can replace your vehicle, you can't replace your life."
