MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man has been charged with inciting a riot after a group of 15 people assaulted a man because he was thought to be gay.

Police said Dashun Dye, 19, met with the victim at a store and invited him to play Xbox. The group got in an unknown vehicle and began leaving to go play.

The driver stopped at the intersection of National Street and Lamphier Avenue and they all got out of the vehicle.

According to the affidavit, when the victim got out of the vehicle, 15 other people began to assault him to the point where he almost lost consciousness.

Dye recorded the incident, encouraging others to keep hitting the victim. He later posted this video on his Facebook page.

After the attackers left, police and fire crews came to the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for blunt trauma and multiple concussions.

The victim said he was assaulted because the group of people thought he was a homosexual.

Dye is charged with two counts of aggravated riot.
