BRIDGEPORT, CT (WMC) - The dream season for Mississippi State women's basketball is over.
The Lady Bulldogs were blown out by UConn in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament, 98-38.
The Bulldogs were solid in their two postseason wins against Chattanooga and Michigan State, but the Huskies were too much as the three-time defending champions won their 72nd straight game.
UConn led 32-4 after the first quarter and held the Bulldogs to just 38 points. The least points ever scored in the Sweet 16 round is just 35.
Despite the huge loss, the Bulldogs finished the season at 28-8 with a runner-up finish in the SEC. Their 28 wins are the most in team history.
