TN Senator says balance needed in Apple-FBI encryption debate

Senator Corker talks about keeping America safe

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Tennessee Senator Bob Corker is working with Apple CEO Tim Cook about encryption issues.

The FBI no longer needs Apple's help to break into the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists, but now Apple wants the FBI to reveal how it unlocked the iPhone data.

"Our nation unfortunately pursued bad policy recently where the Senate and House moved to make it more difficult for the NSA in my opinion to capture data," Corker said.

Corker said Congress should strike a balance in maintaining private protection of communications while also allowing intelligence agencies to keep America safe.
