LEE COUNTY, AR (WMC) -

A six hour standoff came to an end with a 73-year-old man in handcuffs.

Lee County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call in the 2900 block of County Road 333 after a county water employee said he was chased off the property by the homeowner when he went to disconnect the water service.

Officials said William Everett Boals, 73, was arrested shortly after midnight April 1 following a six hour standoff between Boals and law enforcement officers.

Boals is reported to have fired upon Lee County Sheriff's deputies when they arrived at his home following the call. K-9 units and multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist in the situation on Thursday night.

Boals is charged with two counts of attempted capital murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
