MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Police are searching for a man who robbed a Family Dollar store Monday morning.

Memphis Police Department said a man wearing something like a mask or bandanna over his face robbed the store on Summer Avenue near East Parkway.

The suspect got away on a dark green bicycle on Faxon Road.

"It's sickening that it has to happen like this,” one witness said. “But you know, thank God nobody got hurt in the store."

That witness, who did not want to be identified, said he saw the robber casing the store before the crime.

"There was a guy that rode around on a bike dressed in all black. I guess he was riding, staking out the store, trying to see what he can go in there and get, and he made his move."

The man said the robber looked suspicious.

“He had his face covered with a little mask, and you know, it's like he had planned it. So he knew what he was coming to do."

Police said the man was also wearing gloves when he went inside with a weapon and demanded cash from the store.

As the robber was coming out, a man named Abdul, who works in the area, said he looked up just in time to see the robber get back on his bike. This crime has his nerves shaken at work.

"This store, three years ago, a guy got killed by a robbing,” Abdul said. "This why always I close the bulletproof, because I know this happen again and be for me if I don't close it."

If you know anything that could help police identify or find the robber, call Memphis Police Department at 901-545-2677(COPS).
