MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police arrested a man accused of robbing and pepper spraying a 91-year-old woman in her driveway.
March 8, the woman told police that someone took her purse and car keys and threw a liquid in her face. Police said they saw an orange-colored stain on her shirt and face, which could be either mace or pepper spray. She was also cut on her left wrist.
She said her purse was in her lap and her car keys were in her hand at the time of the robbery.
Later, police learned that the victim's credit card was used at several stores in North Memphis, including a purchase at The Highway Express on North Watkins and three separate purchases at Exline Pizza in Frayser less than an hour after the robbery happened. Some of these purchases were caught on surveillance cameras.
Investigators later developed 22-year-old Terry Yarber as a suspect. Police said he identified himself as the man in surveillance stills from The Highway Express and Exline Pizza, and he admitted to using the victim's credit card at both locations.
Yarber is charged with aggravated robbery, two counts of identity theft, four counts of forgery, and and four counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card.
