MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A 5th grade Memphis student received a letter from President Barack Obama.

Kamberniese Brown was just one of 59 students who finished a science project about pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Many of those students sent letters to President Obama at the completion of their project, and amazingly, Brown received a response.

In the response, President Obama thanked Brown and explained some of the projects his administration is working on to address the issues she learned about during her science project.

Brown is a 5th grade student at Whitney Achievement Elementary School.

Brown's teacher, Taisha Stovall, said she hopes other students will see this and be encouraged to reach out to elected officials about policies or issues they feel passionately about.
