HORN LAKE, MS (WMC) - Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:
Did you catch this headline? Horn Lake, Mississippi, has been named one of the best cities in the country for African Americans.
The study was done by Livability, a site that categorizes the best places to live for different groups of people, citing factors like parks, cost of living, climate and crime.
The cities that made this list were measured by the number of African Americans moving there at high rates and where African Americans are succeeding in terms of income, homeownership and academic achievement.
Horn Lake was ranked eight on the list and Livability says Horn Lake's African American population has grown from 12 percent in 2000 to 35 percent today.
While this says a lot about the good things going on in Horn Lake -- I'm not sure what it says about Memphis.
Way to go Horn Lake, you are making this A Better Mid-South.
