MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man accused of speeding while driving drunk on a suspended license is behind bars.
Tuesday, an officer clocked 35-year-old Elliot Holmes as driving 52 mph in a 40 mph zone.
When the officer tried to get him to pull over, he kept driving eastbound on Raleigh-Millington Road. That's when he crashed into the back of another police car, injuring the officer in that car.
When the arresting officer got Holmes out of his car, he noticed Holmes smelled like alcohol. The officer said Holmes had slurred speech and watery, blood shot eyes. He also said Holmes was unsteady on his feet.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
Holmes is charged with DUI, public intoxication, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, revoked or canceled, speeding and financial responsibility.
