Shelby County School cuts, Jim Strickland working to reduce crime, Baseball is back in Memphis

Here are the some of the stories we're working on right now:
Big cuts could be coming to Shelby County Schools as the district faces a major budget shortfall.  Leaders say 50 million dollars in spending needs to be slashed and the cuts are expected to hurt in the classroom.We're talking about fewer counselors, reductions in foreign language programs and some career and tech education programs gone. We'll discuss proposals on the table this morning on WMC.

Today marks 100 days in office for Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and he's focused on fighting crime. We'll tell you what the mayor says he's working on right now to reduce crime and make the city safer on WMC.

Baseball is back in the Bluff City. Tonight the Redbirds will open their new season at home at AutoZone Park downtown. We'll preview this morning on WMC.

Parts of downtown Memphis are taking a trip back in time this week.. as crews ramp up production of the new CMT series "Million Dollar Quartet."

New health warnings about the sewage pouring into a Memphis Lake. A broken sewer line is spewing gallons of raw sewage into Cypress creek and now dangerous levels of E-Coli have been found at McKeller Lake.. The water in the lake is reported to have E. coli levels 580 times than what is normal for lakes. An update this morning on WMC.

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are waging a huge own battle for New York. Each candidate claims as home territory. Details this morning on WMC.
