Former Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chip Washington is expected back in court on domestic violence charges Thursday.

This is Washington's second time in court facing these charges. Washington was in court about a month ago for the same charges.

Police said Washington showed up to his ex-girlfriend's apartment in February. He was upset over social media posts she had made.

Washington reportedly punched her in the arm twice.

Investigators said after going upstairs to her apartment Washington shoved her onto the couch. He then threw pillows at her.

Washington is also accused of ripping off her necklace.

Washington was put on administrative leave without pay following his arrest. The sheriff's department said Washington resigned Monday. The department declined to comment because of the ongoing investigation.

Washington's attorney, Leslie Ballin, is out of town and cannot comment at this time.
