For the second time, a teacher has used the name of Adolph Hitler when discussing the Shelby County School Board.

Amid passionate pleas from students and others hoping to keep schools open, teacher Diane Keesee compared the board to Hitler while criticizing benefit changes.

“According to Adolf Hitler, make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it,” Keesee said.

SCS Superintendent Dorsey Hopson was visibly disgusted both times the teacher mentioned Hitler, comparing the board to the Nazi leader responsible for six million deaths during the Holocaust.

“Nothing is more disheartening than to hear one of our teachers get up here and start citing Adolph Hitler,” Hopson said.

Keesee teaches second grade at Raineshaven Elementary.

Hopson said the teacher was way off base during the meeting.

“You can make your comments, advocate against, be hard and real and all that, but when you start invoking images of Adolph Hitler, all these babies in here, and you think you are representing folks, well, it's really, really disappointing and it's conduct that's unbecoming of a teacher.”
