MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dorsey Hopson is at the center of a controversy after Wednesday night's board meeting.

Several people called WMC Action News 5 questioning video of Hopson at the meeting.

A teacher at the meeting compared the SCS board to Adolph Hitler. Hopson took exception to that comparison.

“You can make your comments, advocate against, be hard and real and all that, but when you start invoking images of Adolph Hitler, all these babies in here, and you think you are representing folks, well, it's really, really disappointing and it's conduct that's unbecoming of a teacher," Hopson said.

At that moment, he turned off his microphone and mouthed something as he leaned back in his chair.

Several viewers reached out to us to try and figure out what he mouthed.

"Well, he should have never said that. Now, I can say that because everybody caught that and if you really look at it, you can see what word he had said. So, it was bad on his part to be professional to say that word," Amber Williams said.

At least one parent said the district has so many problems, the superintendent cursing to himself shouldn't be an issue to focus on.

We reached out to the district to give superintendent Dorsey Hopson a chance to clarify what he said and explain. A district spokeswoman said they understand it's a delicate situation and are taking their time crafting a response.
