MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

FedExForum conducted and released a "facility condition assessment" in an attempt to acquire money from City of Memphis for upkeep and maintenance.

The assessment provides information about the arena's architecture, technology, and food service and retail spaces. It was completed in 2014, but just recently released. Click here to read it for yourself.

FedExForum is requesting $2 million from the City of Memphis and $2 million from Shelby County Government to facilitate needed upgrades.

The report concludes that FedExForum needs fixes to the air conditioning units, the roof, the surrounding structure, and event the food venues.

Specifically the report asks for repaving or at least staining the current concrete in the outdoor plaza. The landscaping is also mentioned being in "less than optimum condition." The fire station located to the south of FedExForum was described in the report as "blight" and it is recommended it be redeveloped or demolished.

According to the assessment, the PA system has not been updated since it was initially installed. The way everything was hooked up is presumed to be contributing to a "buzz" the staff hears when they interconnect systems. This is cited as being a safety concern as the "equipment racks do not appear to have proper safety grounding."

When it comes to food and beverage facilities and equipment, the assessment explains they are "not being maintained in a sanitary manner."  Some of the sanitary issues cited were dirty rags left in standing water in a sink and on a shelf, molded cheese found in a refrigerator, spoiled ice cream left under a dispenser, food left from five days prior, and dirty concession equipment.
