A man is behind bars, accused of shooting at his uncle over a pair of sneakers.
A man called police on May 1 and told officers that his nephew, Terrance Reed, was trying to steal Nike shoes from his bedroom. Reed then broke a window in the home and climbed out and ran away.
Reed then returned to the scene on Kerr Avenue near South Parkway and started arguing with his uncle and a neighbor. Police said Reed then pulled a gun on the neighbor, demanded money, and fired a shot.
The neighbor told police he pretended to have been shot, then crouched behind Reed's car and put all of his belongings on the hood of the vehicle. Reed then demanded his tennis shoes. The neighbor took his shoes off and ran across the street.
Police said Reed then turned his gun on his uncle and his uncle's girlfriend, shooting at both of them as they ran away. The girlfriend was shot in the knee and taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
After chasing his uncle, police said Reed then turned his gun on another neighbor, demanding everything he had in his pockets.
A short time after Reed left the scene, he was shot on Waldorf Avenue near Marjorie Street. While at the hospital, the two neighbors identified him as the man responsible for robbing them and shooting at them.
Reed is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary.
