Police search for man who robbed 2 businesses and tried to rob 3 more

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Police are searching for a man who tried to rob several business in the Raleigh and Bartlett areas.

At 12:45 a.m., police were called to the Motel 6 on Old Austin Peay Highway, where employees saw a suspicious person wearing a white rag across his face walk across the parking lot and look into the lobby.

Four minutes later, a man wearing a black shirt, tan shorts, and a white rag across his face entered the Sleep Inn on Old Austin Peay. He pointed a gun at the clerk, demanded cash, and ran out of the business with his stolen money.

Then, at 1:24, a man wearing a black shirt, tan shorts, and a white shirt around his face entered the Rodeway Inn on Sycamore View Road. He tried to get into the locked office but couldn't.

At 1:36, employees inside the Delta Express convenience store on Sycamore View said a man with the same description tried to get inside the business, but the door was locked. He pulled on the door a few times, but he failed to get inside.

Finally, at 1:52, a man with the same description entered the All-In-One gas station and Burger King on Whitten Road, demanded money, and forced the clerk to open the cash register. He took cash and ran away.

Police believe the suspect may have traveled between scenes in a silver Chevy Impala.
