Memphis Police Department is searching for a man accused of kidnapping and robbing a woman at gunpoint on Monday night.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., police said a woman was walking to her car in the 3700 block of California Terrace when she was approached by a bald, black male with a knife. Police said he demanded money from her.

When she told the man she did not have any money, he forced her into the back seat of her car and took her to the 3300 block of Summer Avenue to an ATM, where he forced her to withdraw cash.

After removing the cash from the ATM, the woman laid the money on the ground. When the man got out of the car to retrieve the money, the woman sped away in the car.

The man is described as 5'7'', approximately 180lbs, and clean shaven.

A woman took to Facebook with a similar account of what police said took place. In the post, she writes "everyone should truly take this and learn from it."

The post continues by saying on the way to the ATM, she "prayed with the man" and also told him she was pregnant, even though she was not, in order to try to get him to release her. Her post also said the only reason she was making the incident public is to make others aware, so they can be prepared, be aware, and so they will not walk alone, even in the daytime.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
