TBI issues Amber Alert for missing 9-year-old

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for a missing 9-year-old girl from East Tennessee.

TBI said Carlie Trent's uncle, Gary Simpson, took her out of her school under false pretenses on Wednesday. The uncle, who married into the family, has no custodial rights to Carlie.

Their whereabouts are currently unknown.

Carlie is 4 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 75 pounds. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a black and gray tank top with blue jeans.

Simpson is 57 years old, stands 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighs 157 pounds. He is balding with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown cap, a dark colored shirt, and jeans.

Simpson was last seen driving a white 2002 Dodge Conversion Van with TN license plate 173GPS. The van has a dark stripe down the middle with light gold running boards. Paint is chipping off the hood of the van.

They are believed to be in the East Tennessee or Middle Tennessee area.
