Former Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger has landed in Sacramento just two days after being fired, but the Grizzlies are still left with an opening at head coach.

Joerger’s deal with the Kings is for three years and $12 million.

A recent photo taken of former Coach Lionel Hollins and Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace dining together sparked a lot of speculation online.

The Twitter photo taken at a Memphis Humdingers sparked rumors that the Grizzlies' all-time winningest coach could return to the Grindhouse.

Joerger served as an assistant under Hollins before taking over the team when Hollins' contract was not renewed after the 2012-13 season.

However, the two may have just sat down for a friendly dinner. Wallace and Hollins worked together for nearly five seasons, and Hollins still has a close relationship with some of Memphis' top players.

Many others believe former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel is Memphis’ top target.

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski said the Grizzlies were one of the first teams to reach out to Vogel after he was fired from Indiana.

Vogel’s defensive expertise could mesh well with Memphis’ roster, as the Grizzlies are a team that prides itself on being hard-nosed and physical.

Vogel and Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace have a history. The two worked together in Boston when Wallace was GM of the Celtics and Vogel was a video coordinator.

"I'm not going to comment on any one candidate in particular," Wallas said. "We're at the beginning of this process. It's going to be wide-ranging, and we're going to look at coaches across several different categories. NBA head coaches who are currently not with a team, NBA assistants, college head coaches. What's important about this decision is not being fast, but being right in getting the proper person in here who can commit to us and be a leader of this team deep into the future."

There is plenty of competition for Vogel, one of the top free agent coaches in the NBA.

The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are reported to be very interested in the former Pacers coach.

Other coaches that could be on the Grizzlies list are former Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek, current Hornets Assistant Coach Patrick Ewing, and current Spurs Assistant Coach Ettore Messina.

"This coach is someone who has to be very interested in young talent," Wallace said. "We have a team with several different layers now with older guys like Marc Gasol, and other older players who are at the top of their games, but there will come a point in time when we retool and get our younger players going, which we've already started that process. We want to make a run at a championship. That's our goal, our main endeavor."

Wallace said there is no current timetable for the hiring of a new coach in Memphis.
