CONNERVILLE, OK (NBC) -

A TV station helicopter chasing a tornado outbreak in Southern Oklahoma late Monday afternoon caught stunning video of a tornado on the ground.

The tornado touched down in a rural area about 100 miles south of Oklahoma City, near the small town of Connerville.

This was a tall, rope-shaped tornado that stayed on the ground for at least five minutes while the KFOR's chopper gave chase and warned people nearby to take shelter.

The tornado did not appear to hit any structures, but it was one of many that were spotted in Oklahoma on Monday.

Meteorologists say tornadoes with wind speeds above 111 miles per hour are possible from Oklahoma to Central Arkansas.
