MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Parents and alumni of Carver High School are looking for a way to keep the campus open.

The school is on a list to be closed as SCS looks to consolidate areas with low enrollment. But, people in the community said the campus plays and important role. They also said students will have to travel too far to attend school somewhere else.

"Their concern is not having a place that once they matriculated and go off to other places that the school would be gone," Kent Hall said.

Hall is the pastor of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Carver High has been on the chopping block before, but the community is hoping it can once again be saved.

They are organizing a petition that can be sent to the school board.
