In light of 30,000 people being unemployed so far in 2016, it's good news for those looking for work that Kroger will be taking several hundred of those names off that list soon.

Kroger is hosting open interviews to hire 470 new employees across all Mid-South stores Saturday.

"That definitely is a lot of jobs," shopper Carolyn Lowe said. "That is amazing. I definitely think it's an amazing opportunity that they are making so many jobs available for the people of Memphis."

Each of the grocery chain's 104 stores in West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Missouri will be looking for new applicants in the floral, deli, produce, and meat departments, as well as cashiers, baggers, and stock crews.

"We want our youth to apply," Kroger Public Affairs Manager Teresa Dickerson said. "We want them to have something to do this summer. Make money, join the Kroger team. You never know."

All potential applicants must complete an application here.

Once they complete that application, they can go to any Kroger store on May 14 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. prepared to interview with a representative. No appointments are necessary, but business attire is recommended.

“We are proud to offer opportunities to those seeking employment," Scot Hendricks, President of Kroger Delta Division, said. “We are excited about our growth in Delta Division, including the addition of ClickList in select stores and wine in our Tennessee stores. This growth will open many doors for those considering a career with Kroger.”
