Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

If you grew up in the Mid-South or have spent a summer here, you know there's just one kind of temperature, and that's hot.

It's so hot many summers, we have people dying in their homes which are sometimes referred to as hot boxes.

Often older people won't open their windows because they're afraid and many times they can't afford an air conditioner.

This week, MLGW is kicking off its "Play it Cool" program to help these folks keep cool and stay alive over the summer months.

Two hundred window units are being donated to qualified low income seniors and disabled residents of Shelby County.

If you know someone who is in this situation, please help them get signed up for the Play It Cool program through MLGW.

You can go to my Facebook page to get all the information you need.

Helping our seniors stay safe and cool over the hot summer months makes this A Better Mid-South.
