MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Tubby Smith is bringing several Texas Tech coaches with him to Memphis.

The team announced the newly-appointed head basketball coach Smith has completed his coaching staff, adding Pooh Williamson, Joe Esposito, Saul Smith, and Steven “Zo” Goodson. All coached under Smith at Texas Tech.

Williamson, Esposito, and Smith will be assistant coaches, and Goodson will take over as the Director of Basketball Operations.

In addition, the team announced Keelon Lawson will remain as the Director of Player Development. Two of Lawson’s sons, KJ and Dedric are Tigers. Dedric Lawson has flip-flopped on his decision to either stay at Memphis or enter the NBA Draft. The decision to keep his father on the staff may help convince him to stay as a Tiger.

The group of Smith, Williamson, Esposito, and Goodson helped lead the Red Raiders to the NCAA Tournament in 2016 after seven consecutive seasons of missing the tourney. The group will try to do the same for Memphis, who has not made the tournament since 2013.
