MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Accused rapist and businessman Mark Giannini was back in court Wednesday for a judge to decide if his bond would be reinstated after he allegedly attempted to bribe a witness.

Giannini's hopes of a bond reinstatement quickly ended when he walked into court and the judge revoked it, despite the defense's best efforts to discredit the prosecution's star witness.

"We were disappointed of course," defense attorney William Massey said. "We felt that Mrs. Bumpus had been sufficiently discredited and so now we're moving on to get ready for trial."

Giannini was originally indicted in January 2015 on three separate rape charges. He then posted a $3 million dollar bond and was arrested again after being accused of paying a woman thousands of dollars to try to bribe, coerce, and entrap one of those alleged rape victims.

A judge believed her testimony and revoked the businessman's bond.

The defense said they will not appeal the ruling.

Giannini's rape trial is scheduled to begin in August.
