A Southaven family is hoping to get help for their 12-year-old miracle, and your vote could help.

It's an online contest that can help the family of one little girl win a wheelchair accessible van, but it's more than just a van. Her family said it's about letting a 12-year-old girl know that anything is possible.

Destiny was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which causes her bones to break with little to no cause. She was born with multiple broken bones and fractures and given between three hours and three months to live.

Destiny is now 12 years old and has gone through 100 broken bones in her life.

But, that doesn't prevent her from dreaming of going to plenty of places, such as Canada, Mexico, and even Japan.

"It's hard to try to do that when I can't get around much," White said. "I wish I could run like the other kids, play like the other kids."

For her mother, it's difficult to lift her daughter in and out of the car.

"People see you smiling, but they don't know your pain," Mildretta White said.

The White family has lived without a wheelchair accessible van, but as Destiny grows, they are realizing the difficulty of getting her in and out of their vehicle. It was that stark reality that led the family to sign up for a special contest sponsored by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. If the family gains the most online votes, they could win a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.

That would make it much easier for the family to be together.

"She don't like being left behind, I don't like leaving her behind when I go places," White said.

Whether she realizes it or not, this 12-year-old little girl has already touched lives.

"She made me who I am, she made me stronger," White said.
