MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Overton Square is the place to be for Shimmy Mob Memphis, because who doesn't love a good flash mob?

It's a family-friendly belly dancing event that's designed to help raise domestic violence awareness in our
community and around the world.

More than 30 dancers -- soloists and troupe members, alike -- will be on hand for fun and purposeful entertainment.

Shimmy Mobs will be held across the globe Saturday. Memphis' free event will take place May 14th at 12 p.m. at the Tower Courtyard in Overton Square.

More than 2,400 dancers are expected to take part in more than 200 cities around the world-- all dancing simultaneously.

Shimmy Mob Memphis benefits the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County, celebrating the event's five year
anniversary.

Created in Vancouver in 2011, Shimmy Mob celebrates World Belly Dance Day; Shimmy Mob Memphis is proud to be
a member since its inception.

The largest event of its kind, Shimmy Mobs were created to raise awareness and funds for women and children's
shelters in participating communities.
