Former Memphis Tiger Football star DeAngelo Williams is preparing for his 10th season in the NFL.
A former first round pick of Carolina, Williams spent his first eight years with the Panthers becoming their all time leading rusher, but was released.
He latched on with Pittsburgh last season and led the Steelers in Rushing with starter Levian Bell sidelined with injury.
Bell is back and healthy, and now at age 33, Williams said he'll take his place as a reserve.
"That's my role," Williams said. "That's why they brought me here. If he needs a breather or something unforeseen happens then that's when I come in and help in that area. Other than that I know what my role is."
Williams and the Steelers open their season September 12 at Washington.
