Jack's Old South wins Grand Championship at BBQ Contest

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The 2016 Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is all wrapped up, and the big winner was Jack’s Old South.

The grand champions went away with $30,500 in their first place finish. Jack’s Old South, from Unadilla, Georgia, also won the Grand Champion title in 2001, 2004, and 2007.

“It comes down to the small details, it ain't about great barbecue. You got to do awesome barbecue to win,” Jack’s Old South team member Myron Mixon said. “You got to hit your mark. They know who the Memphis in May Champion is, and guess what: This year it's Jack's Old South and Myron Mixon."
