MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Three people were injured during a shooting in a University of Memphis student parking lot.

The shots were fired as a large group of people left a party on the 3600 block of Southern Avenue, near Houston Street. Students said the party was advertised on social media.

Officers, who were sending people home from the party following a disturbance call, ran toward the sound of the gunshots. A woman and two men were found injured in a parking lot.

“We heard the gun shots and I waited until everybody cleared,” witness William Gibson said. “It could happen anywhere and everywhere."

Bullet holes were found in students’ cars and apartment windows.

“I've never heard so many shots at one time,” said Leon Martin, who also claims to have heard the argument that led to the shooting. “A guy tried talking to another guy’s girlfriend and it just got like that."

The woman and one of the men were taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition. The third victim was treated at the scene.

Police believe four people could be responsible for the shooting.

The suspects’ descriptions are as follows:

  • Suspect 1: Heavy-set black man wearing a red jacket
  • Suspect 2: Medium complexion black man, about 5’4, 168 pounds, with short hair, wearing a dark green long sleeve t-shirt and black jeans
  • Suspect 3: Dark complexion black man, about 6’1", 160 pounds, with short hair, wearing a dark colored t-shirt and blue jeans
  • Suspect 4: Dark complexion black man, about 5’6", 190 pounds, with braids, wearing a black t-shirt with white writing and blue jean

Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made.
