Nurse shark latches onto swimmer at Florida beach

BOCA RATON, FL (WPTV) - -

A 23-year-old woman was bitten on the arm by a small nurse shark on Sunday afternoon at a Boca Raton, Florida beach.

Crews arrived at the scene and found the 2-foot shark still attached to the woman's right forearm. The shark had been killed prior to the fire department's arrival.

"Might have just been startled," Lifeguard Mike Glusac said about the shark. "She might have brushed it with her arm."

The patient was taken to Boca Regional Hospital with the shark still attached. She is expected to be OK.
