MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Police are investigating vandalism at Westwood High School.

Streaks of white paint now cover the normally blue front doors of Westwood High School. This is after someone decided to vandalize them with black spray paint overnight.

"This is the last week of school. Why would they vandalize the door like that?" Westwood High School parent Lavelle Parker said.

The plant manager for the school said everything seemed normal when he left school at 3 p.m. Monday, but when he arrived at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, the main entrance of the school was tagged with messages painted in black spray paint.

Police do not have any suspect information.

Shelby County Schools released the following statement about the vandalism:

"We are aware of the vandalism at Westwood High last night and are still assessing the damage."

Melvin Watkins is a pastor and community activist. He mentors youth at Westwood. He said while the vandalism is disappointing, it's no reflection on the neighborhood.

"It's a great community. It's a great school," Watkins said. "Mrs. Julia Callaway is a great principal. We are excited about what the kids are doing and what they are accomplishing."

Police have not identified the person(s) responsible.
