Rain forecast for the Mid-South heading into Friday - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Rain forecast for the Mid-South heading into Friday

It’s time to talk rain chances again for parts of the Mid-South as we head into tonight and early Friday. An area of low pressure will track across central and southern Mississippi early Friday morning, keeping the chance for heavy rain and storms further south. Rain chances will vary for most of our area, with lower chances to the north of Memphis across west Tennessee and northeast Arkansas. The map below shows 40-50 percent along and north of I-40 and near 70 percent from Oxford to Corinth.

The main time frame for rain is late Thursday evening after sunset through noon on Friday. A stray shower can’t be ruled out through Friday evening, mainly over northeast Mississippi and west Tennessee. Rain totals will vary from a trace to a quarter of an inch along and north of I-40 to a half inch or more in northeast Mississippi. Check out the rain total map below.

The weather should be mainly dry for those Friday evening plans. The weather will cooperate if you have plans to do some yard work over the weekend. Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s. Lows will be around 60.

Check back for more updates on a warmer and unsettled weather pattern heading into next week.
