5 Great Things: LeMoyne-Owen, community bike shop, Rochelle Stevens

We're more than halfway through May and there's no letting up of great things happening in the Mid-South. Here are five reasons that prove it.

LeMoyne-Owen Donation

FedEx donated $1,000,000 to improve LeMoyne-Owen College’s technological infrastructure. The company added another $100,000 in scholarships.

Mike Conley Sportsmanship

Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is nominated for the 2015-16 season long NBA Sportsmanship Award for his work raising money for Methodist Healthcare Foundation's Sickle Cell Center.      

Timberlake at school

Elmore Park Middle School students and staff made us smile with their video featuring Mid-South native Justin Timberlake's chart-topping single, "Can't Stop the Feeling," all in celebration of the upcoming summer break.

Community Bike Shop

Clark Butler is training four teenagers to repair bicycles at the Carpenter Street Workshop in Binghampton. Butler hopes they'll pass along the skill to others in their neighborhood and work at Victory Bicycle Studio.

Rochelle Stevens Track Meet

Memphian and Olympic gold medalist Rochelle Stevens is holding her 27th Olympian Celebration track and field event at St. George's Independent School in Collierville, giving young athletes a chance to be scouted for scholarships.
