STARKVILLE, MS (WMC) -

Mississippi State defeated Arkansas to win its 11th Southeastern Conference Championship.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season at 40-14-1 with a 21-9 conference record, finishing atop the standings.

Mississippi State needed help from their arch rival Ole Miss Rebels, who defeated Texas A&M to knock the Aggies behind MSU.

Mississippi State, currently the fourth ranked team in the nation, will enter the postseason having won their past 11 games on the season.

The Bulldogs have as good a resume as any team in the nation, with series wins at LSU, at Florida, against Ole Miss, and at Vanderbilt.

The only team to defeat them in a series was Texas A&M, who swept the Bulldogs in Starkville in April.

MSU is looking for another trip to the College World Series after they lost in the championship round to UCLA in 2013.
