MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Golf carts are normally the way people get around a course. That became a little more difficult on Monday at The Links of Fox Meadows after police said Daeqwon Booker and two juveniles broke into the golf course over the weekend and stole multiple golf carts.

"It's a sign of the times I guess," said golfer John Coleman.

In total, 12 golf carts were stolen and 13 were damaged. Police estimate the total damage to the golf carts at more than $100,000.

The major damage was to the golf carts' axles. It made many of them undriveable. The burglars also spray painted the golf carts. About half of them ended up at Newberry Elementary School. Police found the others near the intersection of Gaywinds Avenue and Clarke Road. Both locations are less than a mile from the golf course.

"They took them off here with no chargers and put them in a neighborhood where everybody knows where these carts came from," said golfer Doug Lee.

The trio also damaged the course's irrigation system, causing sections of the course to temporarily flood. Booker now faces burglary, theft of property, and vandalism charges after police caught him running from one of the stolen golf carts.

Despite all the damage, the course is now back open and ready for golfers to tee off.
