MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Budget concerns continue to impact Shelby County Schools, even in the last few days of the school year.

Due to budget issues, the district said it will not be using new substitute teachers for the final week of school. SCS assures no classes will be left unsupervised.

The district said there are typically 1,000 substitutes each day, costing $96 per substitute. That adds up to $100,000 daily for the district in substitute pay.

This change does not affect positions currently being staffed by long-term substitutes.
