'Dormant Butt Syndrome' is an actual thing

Most of us have heard the importance of staying active and how sitting too much is bad for our health.

Now, there is actually a term for sitting too much: dormant butt syndrome.

A physical therapist at Ohio State University's medical center claims he came up with the term after seeing patients with knee, hip, and back pain.

Dormant Butt Syndrome happens when people sit too much throughout the day, which causes the gluteal muscles to weaken.

If those muscles aren't strong enough, they can cause strain on the muscles and joints around your back side.

This is one more reason to get up and get moving, whether it’s a simple stretch or taking a quick walk around the house or office.

No one wants a dormant butt.
