Tate County law enforcement leaders announced the arrest of four young men in the murder of a U.S. veteran.

District Attorney John Champion said four men between 20 and 21 years old shot and killed Will Gordon, 56, on Tuesday.

"Another classic example of youth gone wrong--20 to 21-year-olds committing these violent crimes. This is not something we see often in Coldwater. The community is in shock," Champion said.

Investigators believe the four young men were after something valuable in Gordon's home. They went to his Coldwater home, knocked on the front door, and shot the veteran when he opened the door.

"There are no words he was my brother," Gordon's sister said. "He was wonderful. Everybody that met him loved him. He joked, he played; he never had a bad word to say about anybody."

Champion said three of the suspects are from Senatobia and one is from Coldwater.

It took investigators a week to find and charge the men, something Gordon's sister is grateful for.

"These guys are great," she said. "The way they have handled everything, the courtesy they've shown, they've just been great. This is a shock."

Gordon was a father of one daughter and recently married his high school sweetheart.

Kalonji Mack belonged to the same church the couple attended.

"Him and his wife was just perfect," Mack said. "Wife sung in the choir, he loved being in church. He's a very nice Christian man."

Gordon's murder is the first murder in Coldwater in several years.
