MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Fourteen journalism students from the University of Memphis are getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The students have been invited to be interns for the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee. This means they will get to go to the Olympics!

U of M is one of only two journalism departments in America getting this opportunity. The other is the Journalism School at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

The students will be embedded with the Olympic News Service as junior reporters. They will be able to write and develop stories from the games.

Memphis found money to help cover housing, meals, visas, and part of the airfare to Rio, but the program will still cost each student $2,550 on top of tuition.

The students have created an online fundraiser to help them raise money to go to Rio. Click here to donate!
