MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

With lower gas prices and longer lines at many airports, more Americans will pack their bags, load their vehicles and hit the roadways this Memorial Day. AAA is predicting more than 38 million will travel by motor vehicle this weekend.

You won't have to worry about construction delays on Tennessee interstates and highways. TDOT is halting all construction-related lane closures starting at noon today through Tuesday, May 31 at 6 a.m.

In order to keep you safe on the roads, the Memphis Police Department is conducting two Sobriety Checkpoints this Saturday, 8 p.m. - 2 a.m. The first checkpoint will be in Whitehaven on Elvis Presley Boulevard near E. Shelby Drive and the second one is in Fox Meadows, Winchester Road near S. Mendenhall Road

Stay safe on the roadways.

Please buckle up, don't text and drive, don't drink and drive, and use your signals.
