MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Hundreds of Memphis police officers gathered Friday evening to participate in the Sea of Blue, honoring all officers who have died in the line of duty.

Each car had an emblem with an officer's name, some dating back to the 1800s. No one was forgotten.

Beginning on Tiger Lane, Memphis police officers lit up the night with a Sea of Blue, taking some time to reflect on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in protecting the streets of Memphis.

The Sea of Blue was part of a Friends and Family Day for Memphis police on Tiger Lane.

For some, it was a way to honor family members, as well as a reminder of how dangerous the job can be. But no matter what it may be, those who attended the event said it was a great day. They were able to interact with officers and just enjoy each other's company.
