A Better Mid-South: Defending Myneishia Johnson
Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The murder of Booker T. Washington High School student Myneishia Johnson has brought out the worst in some, but her death has also brought out the best in others.

One of those people is Johnson's principal, Alisha Kiner.

When a person emailed criticizing the decision to allow Johnson's 1-year-old son to accept her high school diploma, Kiner took the emailer to task for criticizing Johnson without having all the facts.

I was cheering Principal Kiner on. It was so encouraging to see Kiner take up for her student and set the emailer straight about the situation.

If you want to read the email that was sent and Kiner's response, log on to my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South. I will have it posted there. If you have a comment or thought on this, please email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com.

Alisha Kiner, thank you for loving and defending your students. You are making this A Better Mid-South.
