MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police announced Tuesday there will be no charges filed in the stabbing death of a man who was breaking up with his boyfriend.

Police said Jarvis Jackson, 23, was stabbed in the 2900 block of Knight Road on Monday.

According to police, the investigation revealed Jackson arrived at the home, vandalized a vehicle in the yard, and left the property. A brief time later, he returned and forced his way into the home. There, he had an altercation with his ex-boyfriend and others in the home.

At the time, Jackson's 30-year-old ex-boyfriend grabbed a knife and began stabbing Jackson.

Jackson was taken to Delta Medical by his mother and later airlifted to Regional One, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody, but has since been released.

The Attorney General's Office reviewed the evidence and determined the 30-year-old would not face criminal charges.
