MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Briarcrest Christian School singing group will be in the national spotlight when they are featured on NBC's "America's Got Talent" on June 14.
"We grew up watching the show and seeing it, but actually being there and being in front of the judges and the audience was exhilarating," Chandler Booth said.
"I just remember that 15 minute adrenaline rush of being on that stage," Anna Jones said.
Jones and Booth are members of Briarcrest's OneVoice a cappella group. Their journey began with a hit YouTube video.
"AGT actually found us on Youtube," Jones said. "We had our 'I Want You Back' video go viral when we won the Macy's a cappella thing. And they called our director, JD Frizell, and they were just like, 'hey, do you want to come out and audition?'"
"So we got in our big bus and drove up to Nashville, and the rest is history," Booth said.
That history consisted of more auditions and performances in Pasadena and Los Angeles.
"We had a live audience there at the audition, but we also, like in our minds, we had to think this isn't just our only audience. Like, we have America to see this too, so we can't screw up," Jones said.
Jones said America will have to tune in to see how they did, but Booth had a hint on their performance.
"We, as an a cappella group, have gone farther than any other a cappella group on the show," Booth said.
They hope the rest of the Mid-South will support them through their journey to television fame.
"So honored, because Memphis is a music city. It's what we're known for," Booth said.
"Our city puts their whole heart and passion behind whatever they want to support," Jones said. "And the fact that we're coming from that type of background and we'll have that support hopefully...like, it's such a blessing."
America's Got Talent airs on WMC Action News 5 on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. OneVoice will be featured on the June 14th episode.
