MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Zoo is asking for donations to help feed their giant pandas.

Memphis Zoo pandas LeLe and YaYa eat around a hundred pounds of bamboo a day. The plant is 98 percent of their diet.

If you have at least a quarter of an acre or more of bamboo, and are willing to donate, zoo officials would like to inspect the bamboo and see if it meets their needs.

If you choose to donate, you won't just be helping the pandas here in Memphis, but also the pandas in Toronto.

"We are helping out our friends at the Toronto Zoo in Canada because their climate is too cold to grow bamboo. We send them bamboo," Director of Animal Programming Matt Thompson said.

The zoo currently uses the Bamboo Farm at the Agricenter to replenish its stock. The zoo is not out of bamboo, but they hope  the snack remains available for their prized bears.

Zoo officials will come out and inspect it to see if the bamboo meets their needs, and they will take care of both the cutting and transporting.
