Firefighters were on the scene of a meth lab in Millington in the 4900 block of Saratoga Road, not too far from Church Street and Navy Road.

Hazmat trucks, investigators suited up, and a full clean up took place on Thursday after a Millington police officer discovered ingredients used to make meth inside the home.

According to Millington Director of Public Safety Gary Graves, a Millington police officer was doing a patrol in the area when he saw suspicious activity at the house. That's when he noticed the meth lab.

"He did that investigation and found components of a meth-making operation going on at that location," Graves said.

Neighbors said the meth lab put everyone in the area at risk.

"That's dangerous. It could have blew up and everybody on the street was in danger," Michelle Rogers.

Emergency crews evacuated neighbors in the area near Montgomery Road and Saratoga Road.

Police detained a man and a woman inside the home where the meth lab was located. Police said more people may be involved and could face charges.

Rogers said she saw the massive scene from her front window.

"It was pretty scary because they started evacuating everything," Rogers said.

Crime scene tape blocked off some two or three homes as a precaution. Residents are all safe and back in their homes.

Graves said he wasn't aware of any previous drug busts at this home and said in general, meth labs are rare.

"We haven't had a meth lab in Millington in - I've been here for seven years and it's been several years since we've had one in Millington," Graves said.

But, it's still scary for neighbors like Rogers, who moved to the area just six months ago.

"Hopefully they take care of it and hopefully we don't have to worry about this again," Rogers said.
