Students learn the value of community service

Some Shelby County students got a lesson in community service Thursday. Students from seven high schools met at Bartlett High, where the Shelby County Education Foundation presented a $100-thousand donation for library book programs to the Shelby County School District. Students also had the chance to find out how student leaders can make a difference in their communities. Rose Jackson Flenor, FedEx said, "I hope they leave with an understanding of the importance of serving their communities, the impact that they can have, no matter how difficult, it is one program that they're volunteering, or one person that they're helping, they can truly make a difference." Flenorl also stressed to the students the importance of getting a good education for future employment.
