The District Attorney’s Truancy Reduction Program is giving 245 students a free bike on Saturday.

This is the third annual presentation of free bikes. It’s to honor those Shelby County Schools students who held a perfect attendance record for the 2015-16 school year.

The event will be held Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Hyde Family Foundation, Rotary Club of Memphis, and Huey’s.

Two-hundred forty-five students, from 14 schools participating in the program, will receive bikes and helmets.

“I am so proud of these students for their dedication and hard work throughout the school year,” Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich said. “Even under the best of circumstances, achieving perfect attendance is not easy. The parents, grandparents, and guardians also should be congratulated."

The winners are students from Ford Road Elementary, Magnolia Elementary, Hawkins Mill Elementary, Hickory Ridge Elementary, Alton Elementary, Winridge Elementary, Chickasaw Middle, Hamilton Middle, Sherwood Middle, Hickory Ridge Middle, Ridgeway Middle, and Georgian Hills Middle.
